My Journey
Let me tell you - we all start there. I most certainly did! As a child, I was fortunate to be surrounded by music and I loved the beauty that harmony created.
But when I tried it myself, trust me, it was anything but beautiful...
Fortunately, I had an awesome guide to coach me along. My mom. In the car. On road trips.
That's right! My parents helped us pass the time with purpose and intention!
My dad would sing the melody while I copied my mom on the harmony line. She would then sing the melody while I tried singing the harmony on my own. With each attempt, she would patiently correct me until I could hear/sing the correct patterns and direction of each note. We also played crazy singing games like choosing our own starting note in a song and seeing who could hold their "key" the longest.
It was fun. It was safe. There was freedom to explore and make mistakes. And it worked.
When it comes to singing harmony,
you may think that you either have it or you don’t;
that you just naturally or subconsciously pick it up;
that there is no way you could develop vocal independence
or stop relying on the person beside you to carry the notes
Vocal harmony CAN be learned. You don’t have to wait for your subconscious to magically kick in. With the right strategy and guidance, you CAN develop an ear for harmony and have fun while doing it.

I have had the pleasure of taking voice from Julie as an adult student for the past 6 years. She is an amazing teacher and is very encouraging throughout the learning process. Julie helped me tremendously to prepare my voice and songs for recording original music with my band, Meadow Drive. She comes highly recommended and has so much knowledge regarding all aspects of the voice!

I have worked with a couple of other vocal teachers before but never experienced the vocal transformation I did when I worked with Julie. She has an excellent ear and was able to hear all the slight nuances in my voice to know when something wasn't quite right to help me get better. Julie helped me develop my mix and head voice as well as my core support so that I am finally able to sing high notes with power and ease!
